Activities in Harman Hall
Egg Drop & Award Ceremony – will take place on the lawn area across from Palmer Hall
** Looking forward to an exciting day of fun STEM challenges!! **
- Upon arrival - Pick up your “Team tote bag” from the Bus Greeter (Oak Street drop off)
- Teams arriving by car – pick up tote bags at Myrick Hall
- At end of the day – Each team leader can pick up an AMSTI “Goodie” Bag for team members at the Egg Drop Station
- Lunches
- No lunch fee for student participants (cost covered by UM)
- Adult lunches $8.50 each
- Need to purchase “lunch ticket” upon arrival or prior to 10:00 am
- Lunch tickets can be purchased at the following sites:
- (Egg Drop Site/ Command Central at Myrick/ in front of UM Dining Hall)
- Exactly $8.50 cash will only be accepted
- UM Dining Hall will have an assortment of food options (cafeteria style) – BUT there is not a special menu for food allergies
- Students who cannot be exposed to areas where food has peanut ingredients – may need to bring their own lunch & parents need to decide whether or not they can be in the dining hall
- Teachers/chaperones – need to be aware of the students medical needs/ food & environmental restrictions
- Egg Drop Devices
- Leave egg drop device & required forms at “Egg Drop Station” (across from Palmer) upon arrival
- Required forms: Materials Used/Budget sheet & Honesty Pledge
- Be sure to label device with “School Name”
- Team captain will insert “egg” at Egg Drop Station at arrival
- Leave egg drop device & required forms at “Egg Drop Station” (across from Palmer) upon arrival
- Observers (Teachers/ chaperones/ other adults)
- Turn off cell phones
- NO communication with students during construction or competition
- Standing room only for observers
- Bathrooms in Bibb & Myrick are limited / Harman has the most bathrooms
- Activities to visit on UM campus while moving from one location to another
- Dauphin Island ROV (Remote Operating Vehicle) will be set up in the front/south side of Myrick Hall
- Honda MWD Unit (which will have videos of the Honda production process) will be up the hill in front of Myrick

Competitions
- When your team arrives – go right to your assigned Gym on UM Campus:
- “Longest Ride” teams are in – Myrick Gym
- “Vehicle Safety Challenge” teams are in – Bibb Gym
- Please remind your students to “listen” & “READ” directions – for their construction challenge
- Each team will receive “3 Tickets” – to “Ask an Engineer/Professor” specific questions about “construction” of their device. They can ask a question at any time during the competition.
Activities in Harman Hall
- Each team will have the opportunity before lunch or after lunch to participate in additional engineering team activities in Harman Hall
- Your schedule will determine what time your activities are planned
- Harman Hall is also a good place for a rest room break – since it has the largest rest room facilities
- While your students are in Harman – do have them take a look at the “large Geode” in the Atrium on the first floor. There are also many other displays in the hallways that your students may be interested in seeing.
